Conceptually, this podcast used to be about life as mundane videogames (like Shen Mue) and you keep hitting the reset button until your system breaks down then that’s it, game over, you gotta go play on someone else’s system where none of your file information’s saved. I don’t exactly believe in reincarnation, though, so it’s probably fortuitous that a few failed track clearances later the podcast was suddenly about something else—like how life starts off strangely, distractingly fun but then quickly drains through inevitable cycles into a degenerative state where bleak shit swirls together with the hope that there’s an ocean on the other side of the pipe. I don’t know what y’all might call the ocean; I call it God. In its current state this podcast is mostly just about fresh music yet I s’pose there’s an idea or two still lurking about. Oh, it also used to be about going 3 for 3 on my GZA podcast cameos but then I realized that RZA raps on over half of “Pencil.”
