LXV
This one’s a throwback of sorts to CMG podcast no. 49, the Epic Commute mix, which curmudgeoned its way out the other side of winter earlier this year. It’s sequel time, baby: we’re talking more drama (strings, each stabbing an old Sufjan Stevens song repeatedly); more tension (the Melvins condensed into a thirty second rage after minutes of drone-y cold feet); more conflict and resolution (Mount Eerie assaulting us with swells of digital farts—wet, mechanical ones, spraying static—only to embrace us with a concerned hug moments later); more affirmation (a pair from the new A Sunny Day in Glasgow, proof of how right Conrad’s review is); more unexpected twists (the best, most tolerable Flaming Lips material in a decade); more drawn-out catharsis (all twelve minutes of Do Make Say Think); more. Get excited!
Thanks to the artists and labels involved, and to our readership for continuing to support these podcasts. Enjoy:
